ORTHOKERATOLOGY and MYOPIA CONTROL
What is Orthokeratology
This is a non-surgical procedure that eliminates the need for glasses or daytime contact lens. It involves therapeutic contact lenses to gently reshape your eye WHILE SLEEPING. You wear specially designed lenses before sleeping and remove them to have clear vision for your waking hours.
In the last 40 years, myopia (nearsightedness) is increasing in frequency all over the world. It is at epidemic levels as high as 80-90% in Asia, and dramatically rising in Canada and the United States. Higher levels of myopia carry a significantly increased risk of potentially blinding retinal complications, glaucoma, and not just a problem about thick glasses.
Dr. Kwong specializes in helping prevent at risk kids and young adults from having to suffer those complications by halting or dramatically slowing down their myopic progression. He is a member in good standing of the THE AMERICAN ACADEMY OF ORTHOKERATOLOGY AND MYOPIA CONTROL. We utilize the latest technologies and techniques, such as orthokeratology, atropine therapy, and multifoca soft contacts, specialty eyeglasses and vision therapy to achieve dramatic and impressive results. Time is of the essence as the earlier treatment begins, the better the outcome. Remember, there is no going back. The treatments can help ensure the myopia is best controlled, but they will not reverse it. There are no guarantees that any specific treatment will work for an individual person but the lack of early care prevents any potential benefit from starting early.
